The Paeroa Society of Arts was formed when well known Paeroa artist Judy Parker, with the help of an enthusiastic group of fellow artist, started the Paeroa Festival of Arts in 1982 and in 1984 the Festival Committee became the Paeroa Society of Arts. We became an incorporated Society in 1985.
In 1995 the Society purchased the old borough council building on Normanby Road, right in the centre of town. This is where our Society gallery is today. Since then the building has had some internal restructuring completed to enlarge the art classroom and add an additional gallery for special exhibitions. Local schools and guest artists are invited each year to exhibit their work.
The Parker Gallery provides all-year-round displays of member’s work. Each year around November we hold a Member’s Exhibition with prizes, and invite guests artists to display their work for the month.
The Society actively promotes membership, activities, and classes. Each Thursday the pottery group meets, as well as an art class on Tuesday morning.
